Blue Bird day at Hakkoda for Craig Kelly

Somedays we get really lucky, and yesterday was one of those really special days at Hakkoda. Blue Bird, prefect snow conditions and zero wind. My hero Craig Kelly passed away on January 20, 2003 doing what he loved. This ones for you Craig!

Deeeeeeep Days at Hakkoda.

This last week at Hakkoda has been pretty wild. At least 50cm of fresh everyday, with somedays 70cm of fresh powder. Here are a few pictures and a Video from one of my clients took while out with us the other day on a Japow Tour. Hakkoda is reporting over 4 and 1/2 meters of snow right now! Thats at the base.

Hakkoda Guide Club Day

The Hakkoda Guide Club knows the Hakkoda mountains better than any other guides up there. Thanks to Soma-san and crew for such a great day.  Amazing routes, with lots of POW and traps and the best crew to ride with.  If you every want to join their tour, meet in the Hakkoda Sanso Hotel lobby no later than 830am each day to sign up. Just make sure to tell Soma-san that Paul sent you.  Enjoy the Japow.

Japow Tour 1.2.12

With no new snowfall in 48 hours, the New Years crowds infiltrating the Hakkoda Ropeway and the nearby Backcountry, it was time to hike.  Tim & Joe where huge troopers and hiked much faster than expected.  Whats nice about hiking in the BC is that you never have race up the mountain when you know you are the only ones there. We had our own private Mountain for the day.  Thanks for coming out guys.  Onsen time!
